Fresco Minimalism

The Challenge
Fresco paintings are defined by their tactile materiality—mineral pigments embedded directly into wet lime plaster. Our task was to convey this organic, heavy weight on a flat digital display.
The Concept & Philosophy
We designed a multi-layered panel interface where each card carries an organic plaster noise texture. High-contrast typography sits cleanly on top of these painterly backgrounds to preserve legibility.
Material & Memory
Fresco art is an exercise in time and chemical transformation. In the digital space, we mimic this relationship by linking scroll movements to paint absorption overlays.
Key Visual Assets
- Mineral Accents: Lapis lazuli blue and oxide red highlights anchor the menu and button indicators.
- Floating Cartouche: A delicate frame detail wraps interactive quotes, floating gently above the underlying content panels.
The Process
We photographed local plaster walls and developed a high-performance SVG fractal noise filter. Using scroll-linked opacity transformations, we made the background pigments appear to absorb light as the user scrolls.
The Final Result
A stunning, tactile digital identity that fuses classical Italian craftsmanship with high-fashion, editorial layout design, receiving praise across international design communities.
